FIELD: metallurgy; making natural alloyed pig iron in blast furnaces; production of titanous slag suitable for processing into pigment titanium dioxide. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes introducing manganese-containing additives into sintering or blast- furnace charge in the amount ensuring ratio of manganese monoxide to titanium dioxide in final blast-furnace slag from 0.05 to 0.2. Used as additives are manganese ores, blast-furnace dust, sludges and slags of process of production of ferromanganese in blast and electric furnaces.
