FIELD: deposition of metal coats on surfaces of articles made of iron or its alloys by method of chemical reduction of copper from solution of its salts. SUBSTANCE: process can find use in various branches of industry to form copper plating on steel and iron surfaces and can replace electroplating methods. According to process acidic alcohol solution of chemical components containing 0.05 per cent by mass of chloride of univalent copper CuCl or more, not less than 0.25 per cent by mass of metal salt with variable valence presented in its lowest valence soluble in alcohol and strong oxidizer in such amount that acidity of solution takes value pH=1.0-1.8 is prepared. Cleaned and degreased steel surface is kept in it in the course of 5 s or more. EFFECT: deposition of copper plating showing high adhesion to surface, reduced energy consumption for deposition. 4 cl
