FIELD: plasma engineering; generation of high-energy plasma jets. SUBSTANCE: plasma accelerator has power supply, two electrodes disposed in vacuum chamber wherein they are separated by insulator and connected to power supply; internal electrode is made in the form of axisymmetrical rod and external one enclosing internal electrode, in the form of set of electrodes secured on one end to holder mounted in butt-end of chamber. External-electrode rods are rectilinear and are installed so that one end of each of these rods is spaced apart from other end in azimuth relative to axis of internal electrode through same angle ϕ of 0<ϕ<180° deg. range with the result that envelope surface of set of rods is presented as single-pole hyperboloid of revolution. EFFECT: enhanced stability of supersonic plasma jet at accelerator output. 1 cl, 1 dwg
