FIELD: applicable in the wood-pulp and paper industry for manufacture of soft paper designed for use as, for example, toilet paper, kitchen web paper, paper pocket handkerchiefs, napkins, etc. SUBSTANCE: the method for manufacture of paper having a three-dimensional relief of alternating elevated and deepened parts that is formed in the process of impulsive drying. Wet cloth is passed through at least one zone of press clearance containing a rotary heated roll, at passage through the press clearance the paper cloth is imparted a three-dimensional relief of alternating elevated and deepened parts or by means of a relief net, belt or tape, and/or by means of a relief pattern on the heated roll. After the mentioned press clearance the paper cloth is directed on the considerable part of the circumference of the heated roll for provision of additional drying, while it is still in touch with the mentioned relief pattern.
