FIELD: applicable in the wood- pulp and paper industry for manufacture of soft paper designed for use as, for example, toilet paper, kitchen web paper, paper pocket handkerchiefs, napkins, etc. SUBSTANCE: the method for manufacture of fibrous, cloth-like material such as paper or nonwoven material, having a three-dimensional relief of alternating elevated or deepened parts dried by impulsive drying, laid by the wet method. The relief is formed in the process of impulsive drying, at which wet cloth is passed through at least one zone of the press clearance containing a rotary heated roll. At passage through the press clearance the fibrous material is imparted a three-dimensional relief of alternating elevated and deepened parts or by means of a relief net, and/or by means of a relief pattern on the heated roll pressed into the fibrous material. Material is introduced in the fibrous material, which gets softened or melted within a temperature range from 100 to 400C. At least the parts of the fibrous cloth that are positioned closer to the elevated parts on the heated roll are heated to such a high temperature, that the mentioned material gets softened or melted thus providing an increased number of placer of knitting up in the fibrous cloth. Besides, a thermocoupled, dried by impulsive drying material manufactured by this method is offered. EFFECT: enhanced plumpness, softness, elasticity, stability with a low degree of internal stresses. 20 cl, 5 dwg
