FIELD: straightening, restoring shape or eliminating local deformations of hollow articles made of metallic sheets. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing article on base of apparatus; applying radial effort to inner surface of article for straightening its buldged zones by tension; at first placing article on supporting surface of annular driven detachable closure; applying radial effort to first buldged zone and straightening it; then placing article on ring type tool of receiving table and straightening next buldged zone; moving receiving table with ring type tool and with article to upper position until flange of article rests upon lower die; applying axial pressure to flange; at side of article end bending flange to position determined by working profile of ring type tool. Apparatus for straightening cylindrical flanged article includes base; receiving table; unit for transmitting effort; drive wedge in the form of truncated pyramid having lengthwise guides for mounting cams; ring type tool and guides arranged on receiving table; detachable annular drive closure mounted on base and having in upper portion supporting surface for placing article and in lower portion having die whose shape corresponds to contour of surface of ring type tool.
