FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing alkaline metal alkylxanthogenates that are used widely as flotation reagents in concentration of ores of nonferrous, rare and precious metals. Method involves preparing alkaline metal alcoholate by interaction of solid alkali with 6-7-fold excess of alcohol, distilling off reaction water, interaction of prepared spirituous solution of alkali metal alcoholate with carbon disulfide taken in the mole ratio = 1:(1.01-1.03) and isolation of the end product by crystallization and filtration being at 0 C mainly.
