FIELD: metallurgy; production of aluminum-magnesium master alloys used as alloying or modifying additives in production of alloys on base of aluminum and magnesium. SUBSTANCE: proposed aluminum-magnesium master alloy obtained due to aluminothermic reduction has the following composition, mass-%: scandium, from 0.3 no more than 5; iron, no more than 0.05; silicon, no more than 0.05; copper, no more than 0.01; manganese, no more than 0.01; sodium, no more than 0.1; fluorine, no more than 0.01; rare-earth element all together, no more than 0.01 and aluminum being the remainder.
