FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy of non-ferrous metals and can be used for production of modifier of aluminium alloys. Method of producing modifier of aluminium alloys includes preliminary preparation of two melts, one of which is aluminium-scandium containing, mixing two melts under a layer of flux with subsequent cooling of the obtained melt. aluminium-scandium containing melt is obtained by melting aluminium-scandium ligature, and scandium diboride is used as the second melt, which is obtained by synthesis thereof from pre-mixed powders of scandium oxide, boron carbide and technical carbon, when mixing two melts at a temperature of at least 800 °C for at least 30 minutes, yttrium is additionally introduced so that its content in the modifier is up to 0.1 wt.%, the melt is cooled at a crystallisation rate of not more than 50 °C/sec.
EFFECT: high efficiency of modifying aluminium and its alloys.
