FIELD: establishment of technical condition of cylinder and piston group of internal combustion engine with analysis of burst of exhaust gases into crankcase. SUBSTANCE: time of growth of pressure of exhaust gases in crankcase from moment of isolation of crankcase space from atmosphere to moment of achievement of specified pressure level in crankcase is used in the capacity of diagnostic parameter which is measured at idle running of engine at nominal speed of rotation of crankshaft. Specified pressure level is chosen equal to 32.0 kPa. Technical condition of cylinder is established when value of pressure pulse in crankcase achieves specified pressure level corresponding to selected cylinder of engine. Correspondence of pressure pulse to selected cylinder is established by comparison of order of origination of this pulse and signal of vibration transmitter mounted on union of fuel pump of engine corresponding to selected cylinder.
