FIELD: diagnostics of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for determination of technical condition of cylinder-piston group of engine by time of growth of specified value of pressure of exhaust gases in crankcase. Gear includes hollow body that has lower inlet hole to communicate space of body with space of crankcase of tested engine and outlet hole located above to ensure withdrawal of exhaust gases coming into space of body from above-mentioned crankcase through inlet hole and measuring aid reacting to change of pressure of exhaust gases in space of body. Measuring aid comes in the form of combination of timer with valve system that includes vertical stroke valve located in body, valve seat installed in body beneath valve in path of flow of exhaust gases from inlet to outlet hole with possibility of shut-off of this flow and index pin of open position of valve. Timer is coupled to valve with capability to switch on timer at moment of valve closing as result of its release by index pin and to switch off timer at moment of valve opening under action of specified value of pressure of exhaust gases to determine time of growth of pressure of exhaust gases up to specified value thanks to it.
