FIELD: automatic gain control circuits. SUBSTANCE: generalized control circuit used to control amplifier performance characteristic with respect to power of third-order intermodulation products and to reduce amplifier current at the same time yielding estimate of power received which remains reliable irrespective of gain distribution or attenuation among different amplifiers functions to maintain this power estimate at same common gain by amplifier gain distribution between at least two amplifier stages in response to this value. Generalized control circuit can be used with plurality of amplifier configurations due to programming or tight coding of some key parameters.
