FIELD: machine tool manufacture, turning non-rigid parts in lathes. SUBSTANCE: stay includes body in which collet chuck with pressure member is mounted. Pressure member acts upon petals of collet chuck. Stay also includes drive unit of mechanism for creating gap. In order to simplify design, pressure member includes arranged in body coaxially relative to collet chuck pressure sleeve spring-loaded relative to body and designed for acting upon petals of collet chuck and nut with lock nut joined with pressure sleeve. Stay is provided with mechanisms for fixing nut against turning over and in axial direction, locking sleeve and balls for squeezing blank arranged in openings of collet chuck and for engaging with locking sleeve mounted in body coaxially with collet chuck with possibility of acting upon pressure member and it is spring-loaded relative to body. EFFECT: simplified design, enhanced reliability, increased accuracy of creating stay gap. 1 dwg
