FIELD: methods applicable in mining of steeply dipping mineral beds in extraction of mineral reserves below opencast design boundary. SUBSTANCE: method includes mineral breakage by drilling and blasting and removal of broken muck with formation of opencast flanks. Mineral is mined by horizontal layers along the strike. Opencast flanks are formed either by contact of mineral deposit with enclosing rocks, or by barren rocks at angle to horizontal plane, maximum permissible with respect to flanks stability. Muck is removed by transportless method. During hole drilling and charging, working zone of opencast breakage face space mining under-opencast reserves is protected by platform which is evacuated from breakage face for period of blasting operations. Formed in opencast flanks, as opencast is depends, are, at least two niches over entire height of flanks. Said niches are isolated from opencast worked-out space and equipped as workings for men walking and possible their leaving and entering the breakage face space. EFFECT: provided mining of mineral resources below opencast design boundary with minimization of recovery of enclosing rocks together with mineral. 4 cl, 4 dwg
