SUBSTANCE: method for restoring gear transmissions having pairs of gear wheels with different number of teeth and with shifting coefficients equal to zero comprises steps of surfacing on face of gear wheels with less number of teeth at both sides of their rims wear compensating material; deforming such material by pressing it in axial direction into body of gear wheel with use of toothless die set; mechanically working it according to predetermined size; annealing it and punching basic openings; in order to increase service life period, making toothed rims of gear wheels having less number of teeth with positive shifting coefficient of cutting or finishing tool found as decision result of second-order equation whose coefficients are determined according to given formulae depending upon number of teeth of gear wheels, modulus, engagement angle and circle radius values of indentations of non-restored gear wheels.
