FIELD: high-voltage pulse technologies; treatment of water by pulse discharges for purification and decontamination. SUBSTANCE: water jet formed preliminarily is passed in gas medium through successive row of nozzles-electrodes between which high-voltage pulse discharge is initiated; parameters of this discharge satisfy the following relationship: tf, where p is pressure of gas between nozzles, Pa; ptf≥F(E/p) is discharge forming time, s; E is intensity of electrical field between nozzles, E = U/d, U is amplitude of pulse of acting voltage, B, d is distance between nozzles, m; F is coefficient defined by gas medium parameters. Proposed method is realized in water purification reactor by action of high-voltage pulse discharge; said reactor has cylindrical housing with dividing partition, high-voltage pulse generator and water inlet and outlet branch pipes; high-voltage pulse generator is located coaxially in housing on one side and partition and water treatment chamber is located on other side; water treatment chamber includes water inlet branch pipe with working nozzle forming working jet and outlet nozzle with outlet branch pipe which is used as water mixing chamber; series of nozzles-electrodes is located between them; nozzles-electrodes are connected alternatively to generator output and to housing.
