FIELD: ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy; chemical industry; construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes preheating and burning of limestone and cooling of lime; said procedures are performed in counter-flow with combustion products and air. Gaseous fuel and oxidizing gas are fed to lower and upper levels of fuel burning units . Atmospheric air is used as oxidizing gas for burning fuel at lower level of fuel burning units located at distance of 1.4-2.0 m from fuel burning units of upper level. Amount of air corresponds to flow rate coefficient of αlow equal to 0.2-0.15. EFFECT: reduced consumption of specific equivalent fuel to 131-133 kg/t at retained high quality of lime. 1 tbl
