FIELD: shaft type gas furnaces for firing lumpy material, for example limestone, possibly in metallurgical, chemical and building industry branches.

SUBSTANCE: shaft gas furnace includes faced shaft having zones for heating, firing and cooling ready product; peripheral fuel burning apparatuses mounted in upper and lower floors. Fuel burning apparatuses of upper floor are arranged in firing zone. Peripheral fuel burning apparatuses of upper and lower floors are in the form of burners with positive air feed. Double-duct burners of lower floor are arranged in firing zone and they are provided with blade type air swirler whose blades may rotate by angle 0 - 25° relative to lengthwise axis of burner. Double-duct burners of upper floor are provided with blade type air swirler whose blades may rotate by angle 30 -45° relative to lengthwise axis of burner.

EFFECT: improved quality of firing material, enhanced efficiency of firing process due to uniform distribution of combustion products in near-wall and central regions of furnace shaft cross section.
