METHOD FOR REMOVING PHENOMENON OF SNORE AND SYNDROME OF OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: one should determine hyperplasia degree of soft palate and its shape. At initial hyperplasia degree of soft palate one should apply cuts onto duplicature of soft palate's mucosa. At pronounced hyperplasia degree it is necessary to dissect uvula and duplicature of soft palate's mucosa. In case of vexillary soft pallate one should dissect uvula, duplicature of soft palate's mucosa and part of the upper poles of posterior arches of palatine tonsiles. Moreover, both dissection and application of cuts should be performed due to contact impact of Nd:YAG-laser. At initial degree of soft palate's hyperplasia in case of pharyngeal space deficiency one should additionally dissect uvula either partially or completely. In case of pronounced hyperplasia degree at pharyngeal space deficiency one should additionally apply cuts along free edge of soft palate. At pronounced hyperplasia degree and vexillary soft palate at dissection one should keep not less than 1.5 cm soft palate by developing new uvula. The present method enables to remove snore and syndrome of obstructive sleep apnea of different degrees, decrease traumaticity and quantity of postoperative complications.
