FIELD: technology of inorganic substances; production of aluminum sulfate used as coagulant for purification of drinking and waste water; production of catalysts and adsorbents. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes decomposition of aqueous suspension of sulfuric acid aluminum hydroxide at molar ratio of Al2O3:SO3=1: (2-2.6) and content of Al2O3. in reaction mass equal to 18-20%. Sulfuric acid is proportioned at two stages: at first stage, 10- 20% of total amount of sulfuric acid is proportioned at rate of 0.1-0.3 l/min per 10 kg of Al2O3; remaining amount is proportioned at second stage at rate of 0.6-0.9 l/min Al2O3 for 20- 30 min, after which crystallization is performed.
