FIELD: production of methanol by reaction between carbon monoxide and hydrogen with use of biological mass as feedstock. SUBSTANCE: process includes gasification of biological mass to generate gas. Gasification is carried out with average size of biomass particles fed for gasification amounting to 0.05- 5.0 mm with gasification temperature between 700-1400 C and volume flow rate amounting to 0.1-5.0 m/s per unit of cross-section area of apparatus with supply of gaseous hydrogen to produced gas. Gaseous hydrogen is so supplied to gas that amount of gaseous hydrogen is at least twice as much as amount of carbon monoxide contained in generated gas. Generated gas is fed into plant for synthesis of methanol which includes set for gasification of biomass and production of gas by way of incomplete combustion and steam gasification of biomass, unit supplying gaseous hydrogen, unit feeding gaseous hydrogen into generated gas and facility for synthesis and production of methanol from gas generated in this manner.
