SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for preparing 1-phenyl-1-(alkyl)phenylacetones of the general formula: R_nC₆H_5-nCH(C₆H₅)COCH₃ wherein R means alkyl; n = 1-3. Method involves preparing firstly the complex 1-chloro-1- phenylacetone with aluminum chloride in methylene chloride or chloroform, or carbon tetrachloride at temperature 30 C, not above, followed by its interaction with alkylbenzene at temperature 30-50 C.
