SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of detecting and evaluating fluctuations of electric current consumed at cutting process by electric drive of cutting tool in order to determine quantity of cut material. Apparatus includes electric circuit for evaluating fluctuations of electric current in order to detect quantity of cut material. Said circuit includes measuring unit that may generate signal for measuring electric current used by drive mechanism. Apparatus also includes circuit for filtering measuring signal and processing circuit for evaluating filtered measuring signal.
