FIELD: lubricants. SUBSTANCE: lubrication oil additive is prepared from C8-C18-alkylphenols by bringing in interaction reactants with at 150-190 C in mixing apparatus at stirrer speed (10-16)•103 rpm, wherein alkylphenols and calcium oxide or hydroxide are introduced axially and sulfur and ethylene glycol at an angle 18-36 deg in the first step. In the second step, mineral oil is introduced axially and ethylene glycol and additional calcium oxide or hydroxide at an angle 18-36 deg, after which carbon dioxide is fed axially. EFFECT: increased alkali number by 10-15% improving thereby detergent and antioxidant properties of additive. 2 ex
