FIELD: development of gyroscopic compasses and course indicators. SUBSTANCE: automatic gyroscopic compass includes gyro unit, optical sight unit mounted for rotation with reference to gyro unit, tripod, leveling facility with controller of leveling system, microswitches, slave motors and reduction gears coupled to gyro unit, measuring-computing facility, gyro block mounted for rotation relative to gyro unit, inclination transducers coupled to leveling system, gyroscopic sensitive element having one or several measurement axes perpendicular to rotation axis gyro block and coupled to measuring-computing facility and in accordance with another variant angle data transmitter and torque generator. EFFECT: reduced operator's input to servicing, diminished time for determination of azimuth of specified orientation direction, decreased cost and raised functional reliability of automatic gyroscopic compass. 3 cl, 2 dwg
