FIELD: measurement technology, design and manufacture of instruments and systems for stabilization, navigation and topographic referencing. SUBSTANCE: proposed system is made of azimuthal and horizontal units carrying gimbal suspension, gyroscopic sensitive elements, transmitters of angle, moment and inclination, amplifiers. Angle-to- code and analog-to-digital converters, limiters, switches, digital unit and unit of forced turn make up control device. Inputs of analog-to-digital converter are connected to transmitters of moment of gyroscopic sensitive element of horizontal unit and its output is connected to digital unit. System makes it feasible to reduce time of determination of azimuth of preset direction while system operates under condition of gyroscopic compass thanks to combined mode of operation: analytical gyrocompassing-accelerated reduction of axis of gyroscope to plane of meridian- precise gyrocompassing.
