FIELD: manufacture of diamond cutting tools, particularly cutting inserts of diamond tools for dressing abrasive wheels, drilling bits, cutters and so on. SUBSTANCE: method for making diamond cutting member having cutting layer and substrate comprises steps of preparing cutting layer binder of two mixtures; using first mixture with cobalt content in range 15 - 20 vol. %; using second mixture with cobalt content 6 - 12 vol.%, tungsten carbide - the balance; preparing charge for cutting layer by successively rolling on diamond powder at first mixture containing 15 - 20 vol% of cobalt and then mixture containing 6 - 12 vol. % of cobalt; using charge for substrate having 6 - 12 vol.% of cobalt, tungsten carbide - the balance; placing in press-mold first and second charges layer by layer; subjecting assembly to heating and pressing. Charge for cutting layer may contain in addition 2 - 10 % of titanium. EFFECT: enhanced cutting capability and strength of diamond cutting members. 6 cl, 4 dwg
