FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: electromagnetic starter includes contactor capable of longitudinal movement between first position corresponding to OFF state and second position corresponding to ON state and core made of magnetically soft material, interacting with actuating coil and connected to contactor. Starter also has pole part manufactured from magnetically soft material, its surface located on side of core is in first position of contactor located at distance of air gap from surface of core that is directed perpendicular to direction of movement and in second position fits to above-mentioned surface of core snugly. Starter has besides them yoke fabricated from magnetically soft material to close magnetic flux of actuating coil through pole part and core. Permanent magnet is used to hold contactor in second position and spring preliminarily pulls contactor in second position towards first position. Starter is equipped with trip coil to move contacts from second position to first one, it excites and compensates for magnetic field of permanent magnet at least temporarily. Outline of magnetic flux of permanent magnet is separated from outline of magnetic flux of actuating coil. EFFECT: increased speed of response. 18 cl, 9 dwg
