FIELD: measurement facilities; optical cable installation and wiring. SUBSTANCE: optical reflectometer is connected to optical fiber and optical-fiber reverse dissipation characteristic is measured; after initial splicing of optical fibers; optical reflectometer is connected in series with optical fiber on two sides and fiber reverse dissipation characteristics are measured on closest and farthest ends; then correction is estimated for measurement results of optical power loss at optical fiber joint upon repeated splicing of fibers. EFFECT: reduced time and labor consumption for measuring power loss. 1 cl, 1 dwg
