FIELD: processes and equipment for electron beam welding, possibly of refractory and heat resistant materials in different branches of machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: high-voltage power source heats cathode for providing electron emission. Electrons are drawn away from cathode through opening of potential bias grid between cathode and accelerating anode with opening. Electrons pass through opening of anode to electrostatic focusing lens arranged in direction from accelerating anode to welded article. Focusing lens is made of two successively mounted electrodes; first electrode is the form of flared part narrowing from accelerating anode to welded article; second electrode is in the form of short-length tube. There is gap between electrodes for accelerating electrons. EFFECT: improved design allowing to enhance quality of welding due to improved focusing of electron beam, lowered power consumption and size of apparatus. 3 dwg
