FIELD: welding procedures, namely fusion welding by means of electron beam, possibly refractory materials.
SUBSTANCE: in vacuum chamber successively and symmetrically relative to lengthwise symmetry axis of said chamber behind cathode there are placed: grid for potential bias having opening; accelerating anode with opening; focusing lens made of magnets with ring like cross sections having slits separating poles of magnets and lens planes normal relative to lengthwise symmetry axis of vacuum chamber; and electromagnetic deflection system. Static magnets in the form of hollow tores are used as magnets for making focusing lens. Symmetry planes of tores are used as planes of focusing lens normal relative to lengthwise symmetry axis of vacuum chamber.
EFFECT: enhanced quality of welding due to stable focusing of electron beam, lowered energy consumption and size of apparatus.
