FIELD: equipment ensuring navigation in frozen water basins. SUBSTANCE: hovercraft excites resonance flexural gravitational waves in ice and then its speed is reduced at simultaneous reduction of pressure in air cushion to atmospheric level at moment of lowering of hovercraft on wave trough; then, speed of ship is increased to magnitude when she has maximum trim by stern and pressure in air cushion is increased to maximum possible level. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of ice breaking.
