FIELD: shipbuilding; hovercraft breaking ice cover. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in excitation of resonance flexural gravitational waves in ice field when ship is running over ice at resonance speed. Ship makes several passes over field of ice to be broken. Number is lanes is limited by number which does not cause increase of strength of electrical current excited by piezo-elements fitted in thrust bearing of shipboard propeller. Repeated passes are performed at critical speed. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of breaking ice cover. 2 cl, 2 dwg
