METHOD TO PRODUCE THE HALOGENATED POLYMERS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: chemical industry, production of halogenated polymers, used in the rubber and tires industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of the halogenated polymers, which can be utilized in rubber and tires industries, in particular for manufacture of car tier tubes, side members of radial tires, items of medical assignment, glues, injected and extrusion items. The problem of the invention is production of the polymers using compact technological method. The technical problem is being solved due to the fact, that the halogen is electrochemically generated inside the reaction chamber of a reactor from haloid-bearing compounds. It excludes necessity to transport the halogenating agents to a place of the process realization. Speed of generation of halogen may be adjusted, that allows to work with low concentrations of halogen for prevention of the polymer destruction. The technical problem is also being solved due to the fact, that during usage of aqueous solutions of halogenides of the alkaline and alkali-earth metals in the cathode space of the reactor the alkaline medium is formed, that is used for a stage of neutralization. In addition the alkaline medium promotes decrease of the polymer destruction. The technical problem may also be solved, because the method can be realized without preliminary dissolution of the polymer in the organic solvent. EFFECT: halogen will be generated in situ inside a reactor, where halogenation is executed.
