FIELD: woodworking industry; production of thin veneer given fire-retarding treatment and used for facing of fireproof plywood. SUBSTANCE: method includes heat-wet treatment thin sliced veneer of wood valuable species with moisture content of 70-80% by immersion of each veneer sheet into heated water for several seconds; removal of veneer sheet from water and uniform application to it of dry fire retardant; laying of next removed from water veneer sheet onto treated with fire retardant veneer sheet, and application in same procedure to it of dry fire retardant. Process is repeated up to full formation of stack of veneer given fire-retarding treatment. Stack is set to stand for some time and disassembled, with drying of each sheet of veneer. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
