FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to axial-piston engines making it possible to adapt the engines to specific load at different operating conditions by increasing output power, economy and ecology characteristics. Proposed adjustable valve timing mechanism is made on base of end face and intake and exhaust groups of plate valves and is furnished with mechanism to adjust each group of plate valves which is provided by combination of two end face cams per each valve of group and correction mechanism. One of end face cams, drive or driven one, is made sectional, consisting of several coaxially arranged cams with possibility of turning one cam relative to the other by means of correction mechanism in process of engine operation. Drive can is made common setting one group of valves into action and multiprofile, with several cams of like profile. Number of cams on disk is not equal to number of engine cylinders and cams are arranged over circumference. EFFECT: increased power output, improved economy, no adverse effect on environment. 4 cl, 3 dwg
