FIELD: nuclear power engineering; gamma-source production. SUBSTANCE: device has hanger with carrying base. The latter carries sections made in the form of double-shell cylinders, these shells being concentrically disposed relative to center line of carrying base. Sections are provided with spacers installed between shells in no-space relation. Spacer width is found from equation Ws = (1,5-2,2)Wp, where Ws is spacer width; Wp is pile width. Shells and spacers are made of zirconium alloy. Radioactive material piles can be assembled of pellets, plates, or half-rods. Proposed device makes it possible to enhance rate of cobalt-60 lifetime in reactors RBMK by 1.7 times. EFFECT: enhanced capacity of device. 5 cl, 2 tbl
