FIELD: nuclear engineering; type RMBK reactors and gamma-radiators. SUBSTANCE: neutron absorber has hanger with carrying member and linked absorber unit secured on it; part of absorber unit links is made in the form of boxes filled with radioactivated material ampules. Boxes are placed between end links of absorber unit. End links are metal rods fixed on carrying member by means of spring-loaded hold-down device. Boxes are made of zirconium alloy. Ampules are filled with cobalt pellets coated with titanium nitride. EFFECT: increased growth of radioactive cobalt in large volumes, of higher quality, and within shorter time directly in neutron absorber. 3 cl, 5 dwg
