FIELD: lighting engineering. SUBSTANCE: process can be used for manufacture of discharge envelopes from vitreous silica glass for gaseous-discharge high- and low-pressure lamps including lamps containing mercury ( for example, amalgam lamps ) meant to generate ultraviolet radiation. Technical result of invention consists in prolonged service life of ultraviolet gaseous-discharge lamps thanks to formation of homogeneous film demonstrating high mechanical strength, resistance to internal and external thermal action on bulb, reliable adhesion to vitreous silica glass and transparent for ultraviolet radiation over entire surface of bulb Process includes application of aqueous solution of nitrate, carbonate or acetate of metal with addition of polymer binder creating reducing medium on internal surface of bulb with firing, subsequent drying and firing in the air at temperature from 700 to 900 C. Nitrogen-carrying water-soluble polymer ensuring viscosity of obtained solution between 5-50 cP is added in the capacity of binder.
