FIELD: chemical sources of electric energy. SUBSTANCE: given process can be used to charge nickel-cadmium ( NiCd ), nickel- metal hydride ( Ni-MH ) and lead-acid cells. According to invention process of charging is characterized by way in which charging is executed by means of asymmetrical pulse current with alternation of charging and discharging currents and provision of pauses between them. Charging and discharging pulses of current are formed with steep fronts and relationship of values of charging and discharging pulses is optimized which leads to constancy of voltage in pauses. Periodic changes of voltage across cell are executed in moments of pauses, in absence of charging or discharging current, character of change of voltage across charged cell is established and process of cell charging is stopped depending on chosen factor of change of voltage across charged cell. Technical result of invention lies in potential for acceleration of process of cell charging without deterioration of its operational characteristics, in enhanced accuracy of measurement of voltage across charged cell, in provision for more precise determination of termination time of charging, in diminished probability of undesirable overcharging of cell, in partial rejuvenation of parameters of cell. EFFECT: increased efficiency of process. 1 cl, 1 dwg
