FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: according to invention, method for operation of nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries (NHAB) in spacecraft power supply systems (SPSS) consists in the fact that two or more NHAB cycle in charging-discharging mode, specified by on-board automatics of power supply system, extent of NHAB charge is limited by level of actuation of signal pressure sensors arranged in separate accumulators of each NHAB, parametres of each NHAB are monitored, periodically NHAB forming cycles are carried out by means of their deep dicharging, NHAB condition is estimated, then periodically, for instance, once in 6-9 months, prohibition to charge one of NHAB is introduced, as discharging load they use on-board equipment of spacecraft, criterion of discharging depth limitation is value of NHAB voltage, besides value of limit level of voltage is established in volts equal to number n or (n+1) of accumulators in NHAB, and whenever it is achieved, prohibition to charge NHAB is removed, therefore including it into regular operation, values of charging capacity of signal pressure sensor actuation and maximum pressure of NHAB in process of charging, which are determined in process of forming cycle completion, are used to assess condition of NHAB and forecast its degradation, similar sequence of operations is repeated for subsequent NHAB, besides, time gap from completion of forming cycle in one NHAB to beginning of forming cycle in another NHAB is selected on the basis of temperature mode of formed NHAB.

EFFECT: higher reliability of nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries operation.
