FIELD: recovering surfaces of graphitized electrodes used for melting steel and alloys. SUBSTANCE: electrodes heated to gas pyrolysis temperature due to molten metal heat are treated by hydrocarbon gas and their surface is recovered by pyrolitic carbon within working space of electric-arc steam melting furnace in the course of melting and after metal tapping. Tuyere used for the purpose moves vertically along side surfaces of electrodes and is provided with tip in the form of semi-ring with holes in inner surface. EFFECT: reduced electrode consumption due to recovering its surface by pyrolitic carbon. 1 cl, 1 tbl, 1 ex
