SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processes of fluorination of inorganic compounds, in part, to processes for preparing uranium hexafluoride from nonvolatile uranium compounds, especially to removing nonvolatile uranium compounds from equipment working in uranium hexafluoride medium, for example, evaporative centrifuge. Bromine trifluoride used as bromine-containing gas is fed externally to surface of uranium nonvolatile compounds and fluorinating bromine reagent forming in interaction of bromine trifluoride with uranium nonvolatile compounds. Interaction of uranium nonvolatile compounds with bromine trifluoride is carried out under pressure that is not above 90% of pressure value of saturated vapor of bromine trifluoride at taken interaction temperature. The mole ratio of bromine trifluoride to bromine fluorinating agent is maintained in the range from 0.04 to 1. Invention provides reducing consumption of bromine fluorinating reagent, elimination possibility the condensation of bromine trifluoride on surface of uranium nonvolatile compounds, diminished possibility for formation of poison compounds.
