FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention describes method for preparing contact mass for direct synthesis of methylchlorosilanes in boiling layer. Method involves grinding lumpy silicon in ball mill by milling bodies in flow of inert gas that are made from alloy of copper catalyst and promoters aluminum, zinc, tin and antimony taken in the ratio, wt.-%: Cu, 98.25-98.75; Al, 0.055-0.065; Zn, 0.9-1.05; Sn, 0.07-0.09; Sb, 0.10-0.13. Surface of grinding bodies is determined by empirical equation: wherein S is surface of grinding bodies, m2; K is coefficient considering reduction of grinding bodies surface for time; A is content (wt.-%) of catalytic mixture in KM; Q is mill output, t/h; D is diameter of grinding bodies (balls), m; γ is filling weight of silicon working fraction, t/m3; d is diameter of particles of silicon working fraction, m; C is experimental coefficient; L is length of mill drum, m. As grinding bodies method involves balls made of bronze and brass. Invention provides the enhancement of activity of contact mass, refuse in using ready copper and promoter powders in technology, elimination of iron dust as component of contact mass.
