FIELD: feed production. SUBSTANCE: method involves charging cleaned grain having moisture content of 14% through dosing device into high-pressure chamber; upon pressurizing, supplying steam under pressure of at least 0.5 MPa and at temperature less than 200 C for treating grain with steam for about 60 s. Upon completion of thermal treatment procedure, during discharge of grain in conjunction with heat carrier, pressure in chamber abruptly drops to atmospheric pressure with the result that swelling process occurs. Use of ready steam as moisture, pressure and temperature carrier allows swelling process time to be minimized for grain of any moisture content by eliminating conditioning process and introducing said process into feed production process. When swollen by offered method, grain starch is converted into form convenient for digesting by animal's organism to reduce combined feed consumption, as compared to combined feed produced from standard grain, by 15-20%. Also, usage of grain swollen by said method allows combined feed costs to be reduced owing to reduction of vegetable oil content in its receipt by up to 30%. EFFECT: increased efficiency and reduced production cost of combined feeds. 1 tbl
