FIELD: aircraft equipment; organization of air traffic under conditions of reduced vertical separation intervals. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes recording of information, data on ambient air and geometric and barometric altitudes temperature received from standard satellite navigational receiver on board of aircraft being estimated. On basis of information thus obtained, magnitude n≥1, is calculated for i-pair of aircraft consisting of aircraft being estimated and one of "n" aircraft flying from opposite direction, where δi, this magnitude characterizes preliminary i-estimation of error of measurement of barometric altitude on aircraft being estimated. Magnitudes δi obtained for "n" pairs of aircraft is averaged and averaged magnitude is assumed to be final estimation of error of standard barometric altitude meter.
