FIELD: aviation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aircraft engineering and is used for navigation systems, aircraft navigation, air traffic servicing (ATS), monitoring of aircraft height keeping characteristics. Method of determining barometric altitude of aircraft (AC) is characterized by the fact that the measured geometric altitude of the aircraft is converted using a gravity model of the earth into a geometric altitude relative to a geoid, which is converted to a geopotential altitude based on the standard atmosphere model. Further, the geopotential height is converted to a pressure value using a meteorological forecast. Calculated pressure value using the relationships of the standard atmosphere model is converted to the current value of the barometric altitude of the aircraft relative to the mean sea level. Determination of barometric altitude is performed in real time. Calculation is carried out for each selected time interval at the point of the trajectory that has passed the validation.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of aircraft altimeter equipment by reducing the impact of the main errors typical of barometric altimeters.
