FIELD: medicine and ecology, applicable for disinfection and sterilization of infected medical waste in hospitals. SUBSTANCE: the method provides for moistening of waste by aqueous solution of sensitinogen in the form of a surface-active agent, periodic irradiation of the waste in the working cavity by microwave energy with an isothermal cure in the pauses between the periods of irradiation and removal from the cavity. The device for realization of the method has a metal body forming the working cavity at least with one double-wall door and a continuous layer of heat insulation on the outer surface of the body and in the interwall space of the door. One or several microwave oscillators connected to the microwave inputs of the metal body serves as a source of microwave energy. A protective polymeric film is made on the microwave inputs. EFFECT: reduced specific power consumption by 5-7 times at a complete destruction of all microorganisms of vegetative and spore forms in the waste. 2 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl
