FIELD: mechanical working of materials, namely surface hardening by plastic surface deforming, imparting special properties to parts, possibly in different branches of machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of surface plastic deforming of part by means of roller acting with constant radial effort; imparting to roller feed motion along part axis and subjecting roller by means of linear step drive unit to rocking motions relative to plane normal to axis of worked part; additionally providing possibility of reciprocation motion of roller in parallel relative to its main motion. Invention provides possibility for forming regular microrelief at working part. EFFECT: improved surface quality of worked part due to enhanced fatigue strength and surface wear resistance of part.
