FIELD: polymer production. SUBSTANCE: ethylene homopolymers and copolymers, having density within a range up to 0.930 g/cu.cm and melt index from 0.15 to 25 g/10 min measured under 2.16 kg strain conditions and at 463K, are produced in tubular reactors operated at pressures above 100000 kPa and temperatures up to 603K in presence of free radical-formation initiators, including oxygen, and chain-growth regulators, of which at least one having aldehyde structure. When performing polymerization process, chemical and kinetic characteristics of starting materials are taken into account such as thermal decomposition half-periods, concentrations, and dosage, which would be compatible with corresponding characteristics of tubular reactor such as flow rate. The compatibility is reached by minimizing intermediate secondary reactions, especially polar induction effects of substitution, which could lead to formation and enrichment of organic hydroperoxides.
